The Mutiny Bay Beach House transforms an original 1970’s cottage into a modern island getaway for a large, multigenerational family. Located directly along the pristine Whidbey Island shoreline, the expansion and renovation project reimagines the cramped, outdated structure through both new and expanded spaces. The building form and massing take cues from the original cottage, creating a familiar, yet distinct beach presence. Clad in durable, contemporary materials, with large-scale window and door openings, the home is built to withstand the variable weather and western exposure, while also strengthening its ties to the beach and water beyond.
